Leadership Heights

Each unit will have a scheduled appointment and will need to plan to focus on the Leadership Heights program area on that day. Upon arrival at the Leadership Heights Launch tent located in Action Point Scouts will check-in, receive a wristband, take a leadership self-assessment survey and be introduced to the Leadership Heights program. After being introduced to the experience they’ll make their approximately 25-30 minute trek to the Marriott Leadership Center. Scouts should come prepared with a smartphone (if they have one), water bottle, sunscreen, their lunch and comfortable shoes.

Getting there

Each unit will have a scheduled appointment time and will need to plan to focus on the Leadership Heights program area that day. Units will need to arrive at their scheduled day & time at the Leadership Heights Launch tent located at the entrance to Action Point.

About Leadership Heights

Leadership Heights helps Scouts take their leadership to all-new heights! This half-day, unit scheduled program has four components: Launch, Experiences, Speaker Series and Elevate. After gathering in Action Point and then hiking to the J.W. Marriott, Jr. Leadership Center, Scouts will engage in a series of interactive experiences that test their leadership, communication, and team-building skills. Compelling speakers who are prominent leaders from different industries, nonprofits, universities, and the military will help shape a Scout’s understanding and appreciation for leading and leadership. The experience is topped off by Elevate, an immersive experience that will challenge Scouts and ask for their commitment to lead our world ‘forward'.

Shaping future leaders

Leadership Heights is an experience in four parts. During the launch process, scouts will check-in, take a leadership self-assessment that will help them to assess their current leadership skills and will learn more about the Leadership Heights experience. Next, scouts will begin their 25-30 minute hike to J.W. Marriott, Jr. Leadership Center. On the way, the scouts will participate in activities that will enable them get to know each other and learn more about Leadership Heights.

Experiences

Our experiences team is responsible for working with our program partners and BSA programs to deliver innovative and reflective activities that will challenge scouts to step out of the comfort zone and learn how they can be a better leader and team player.

Speaker Series

The Leadership Heights Speaker Series will be an opportunity for scouts from all over the country to hear from leaders in their fields. Hearing from role models and leaders in fields the scouts might be looking to pursue can help launch their leadership journey.

Elevate

One of the most exciting parts of the Leadership Heights experience is Elevate a one of a kind immersive experience that will leave scouts speechless and reflecting on their own leadership style.The experience will propel them to return home and shape their own leadership journey.
